No photo as yet of Grace.  She was more Mediterranean in appearance than most of us.  We often wondered when that dark hair and eyes cropped up in the family. Family moved south from N Devon..long time ago.Maybe Italian ancestry my cousin said.  A Marks fam lives in Napier region NZ she discovered, originating from same fam as ours Cawsand: descendants of Alice Marks 1878, one Diana McCormack

No bmd nor FMP entry for a Margery Dawe 1911 or even latter- so she must be a Dawe by marriage, wife of Arthur

So, seemingly Grace & Joseph had just 3 children

Her granddaughter, Hilary Dawe, 1940 remembers her:

" I do recall Grace and Alice did not see much of each other although they lived opposite each other in Kingsand.
Grace was known to be difficult although as kids we thought she was funny...a bit hysterical sometimes.  She did not talk of family history.  Alice was a gentle kindly soul."
Diana McCormack shares the same Marks great grandparents.  Her grandmother was Alice Marks 1878.. elder sister to Grace Marks 1880.

Diana now lives near Napier N Z.  She discovered news of Hannibal as descendants still live around there and apparently keep Hannibal as a name but I think now descending from the female line so not Marks.

1959. Grace Dawe ,78, widow, died,at the Green, Kingsand, on 1/1/1959 St Germans Mar 1959. Buried Maker, ref E-064 . No obituary found. Probate of £790
