1940. Hilary Christine Dawe was born late December St Germans to Fred & Doreen

1945. Vivienne M Dawe was born St Germans Dec 1945 to Fred & Doreen . Has Vivienne got any memories??

Fred was a highly skilled wood worker,  who built the local racing rowing boats for the villages of Kingsand and Cawsand through the 1960s and 70s.

Fred and Doreen were a warm and loving couple.  The kindest of grandparents, who were especially devoted to Mark (my older brother) and me. We used to muck about together in a small punt with an outboard motor from a young age (I'm sure health and safety would never allow that today) as we investigated the coves and inlets along the stretch of the Cornish coast nearby - perhaps the smugglers blood remained within us!

This photo of Kingsand shows my grandparents house (Fred's Place) on the beach front,  immediately to the left of the pub,  and to the right of the four storey pink ( very pale!) house (The Willoughby's).

It looks pale yellow in the photo,(has a bay widow on the 1st floor)   but has since been painted a rather unsatisfying dark grey.

Kevin's first ever memory was listening to the waves crashing on the beach below the house from my bedroom window (top right looking at the house). I was lying in the window seat swaddled in something, probably just 3 years old.

Hilary remembers being put under the kitchen table in  the same house as a two/three year old when Plymouth was being bombed in the Second World War.

Fred's Place is rented out.  The house was bought a few years ago by folk from Somerset.  Totally gutted with an extension at the back..Only a small backyard...no garden..so must be very tiny outside space now.  All up to the minute showers etc....road frontage unaltered except small bay window added by previous owner.

1996 Joseph Frederick J Dawe died 2/1/1996. Buried Cawsand?, gravestone? Probate records end 1995!
