His granddaughter thought he was working as a groom in a nearby property- but Kings Caple is ~ 66k away!
There is another servant called Jane Price, 20, here, but she was said to be born Kington, Herefordshire. : researching her, she would seem to have been born to unmarried mother Eliza Price, b.~1815 who had at least 5 children!!. No likely connection to Edward's family
Meryl has researched thie property of Aramstone: it was demolished in 1957 as the then owner could not afford its upkeep.. Some of the garden features survive, including the ice house and dovecote.

When Edward left school he went into service at the !local "Manor house, so Meryl believes he would have been there at the time of this Census. There is a property currently on the market called Bagendon Manor: .The house is reputed to have been rebuilt by Edward Haines during the 19th Century. Maybe this is where he was employed but she cannot find anything on the Internet about the history of this property. Her Mum told her that he worked as a groom and that when he left he was presented with a china tea service. Her Mum had this tea service in her house. When she died Meryl gave it to a granddaughter of Edward Hugo Price (the daughter of Lillian Mary Price who was the daughter of Edward Hugo Price and his second wife Jane Kate Russell Price).

Meryl has this scan of the original taken by W.H. Cumming, Weymouth : infinitely superior to that which appears in the above newspaper!

Edward H Price, 35,Inspector Great Western railway, retired, , was living 14 Goldcroft Road, Weymouth with his 2nd wife, Jane K R Price, granddaughter Marjory C C Price and 2 others, presumably under the age of 21; these include almost certainly their daughter, Lilian, and possibly his 2 grandson Eric Price 1923 ( It is thought his other grandson, Hugo Gordon Price 1920 had joined up)

1955. Edward Hugo Price, 89, retired railway inspector, of Galba Villa, 14 Goldcroft Road, Weymouth died 23/9/1955 & was buried Melcombe Regis on 28/9/1955-. Cause of death: Coronary Thrombosis & Senile Decay . The informant was Handel Everett - he was the son-in-law of Edward Hugo Price, married to Lillian Mary Everett (nee Price) - the daughter of Edward Hugo and his second wife Jane Kate Russell Price. Handel's address is in Newport, Isle of Wight because Handel and Lillian were Salvation Army Officers stationed at that time in Newport, Isle of Wight. Like his wife, Handel is still alive as of 11/2/2022(although very frail). His date of birth is 21st July 1923. Probate of £3623 to his son George W H Price, wages clerk

This is an original copy of his death certificate, found in the possesions of his grandaughter, Marjorie Price/East, upon her death in 2018, so 63 years old then
He was buried on 28th September 1955 at Melcombe Regis Cemetery, Newstead Road, Weymouth. This Cemetery is very close to where he lived at 14 Goldcroft Road, Weymouth. The plot number is B724/745. His second wife (Jane Kate Russell Price) was also buried in the same plot on 25th March 1975. His first wife (Catherine Ellen Price) was buried in the same Cemetery in plot B689 on 30th December 1918. Their daughter Caroline Mary Richards (nee Price) was also buried in plot B689 on 6th April 1977. The ashes of their other daughter Ivy May Gray (nee Price) were scattered on her father's grave (plot B724/745) after she died.
Some facts from the following article: He was number 1 Salvationist in Weymouth & had been in the S A for 70 years In the early year there had been skirmeshes . His wife, Jane, was not a S A officer, but his daughter Caroline Richrds was a Major and the husband of his daughter , Lillian Everett, was a 1st Lieutenant. His grandaughter, Mrs A East, alias Marjorie Price, was also present, but seemingly not his grandsons, Gordon & Eric ( though they had both sent flowers)
Edward Hugo Price was never a Salvation Army Officer. For most of his working life he worked for Great Western Railway. He did however belong to the Salvation Army as a Church attendee and took an active part in the services and activities at the Weymouth Corps. The article refers to him as 'Weymouth's leading Salvationist'. A Salvationist is a term used for someone who goes to the Salvation Army and has signed up to their beliefs but it does not mean they are a Salvation Army Officer. The article also says that he was 'No. 1 on the soldiers' role of the Weymouth Corps'. Any Salvationist who attends a particular Corps is put on the role of that Corps (i.e. a formal list of the members who are referred to as soldiers) in the order in which they joined the Corps. Gradually you work your way up the role as people higher up than you die or leave the Corps for some other reason. Being No. 1 means that when Edward Hugo Price died he was the longest serving Salvationist at Weymouth Corps.
