has 5 children of John & Grace Shattock buried Feb-May 1780, Francis, Richard, John, Mary & Rachael- they baptised 1757--1767, so all >13. Cannot find any reference online to an epidemic of ? in 1780
No baptism in Bishops Lydeard for Francis 1775-1780. Only 2 surviving sons of John & Grace & they married, Thomas 1758, to Mary Baker in 1781, & William 1760, to Betty Knill in 1783- so these 2 seemingly ruled out from being the father of Francis. But no other Shattock marriages 1752-1780, which also explains the lack of baptisms 1767-1780! Could Francis ~1778 have been baptised in an adjacent parish ??
A Francis Shattock married a mary Clements in Bedminster 1799
1806. Francis Shattock, of Bishops Lydeard, married Mary Hawkins 29/9/1806 in Norton Fitzwarren- FMP . Is this the correct marriage??- 3 baptisms to them in B.L. John, Samuel & Sarah 1798, 1802 & 1804: also an 1806 one the day before their Norton Fitzwarren marriage ?? BUT, no other marriage transcribed Bishops Lydeard 1790-1799
I thought Grandparents could be John & Grace Shattock who had children baptised 1757-1767. He, Francis ~1778, could be the son of any of these - Francis 1757, Thomas 1758 , William 1760 or Richard 1762 , although he does call his firstborn William . As seen above, Francis and Richard seem to die in 1780, so is Francis ~1778 a son of Thomas 1758 or of William 1760- would not seem so as these 2 did not marry until 1781 & 1783.
Less likely grandparents are Robert & Elizabeth Shattock who have Susannah 1776, Mary 1779, Ann 1781 & Samuel 1788 baptised to them in B.L. - but these baptisms not in either of my list!!
Also Thomas & Mary Shattock also have children baptised 1782-1787: George 1782, Martha 1785 & Thomas 1787 baptised to them in B.L.
and a John Shattock was baptised 1799, Sarah 1804 & William 1806 to another Francis & Mary ?, or the same couple not yet legally married? !!
1825 A Criminal record? - but could be the Staplegrove Francis Shattock & no age given. Found Not Guilty of receiving stolen goods
1808. George Shattock was baptised to Francis & Mary on 20/11/1808 Bishops Lydeard . Other baptisms were maybe William 1806- the day before Francis married Mary Hawkins in Norton Fitzwarren - and Francis 1810.
1832. Francis Shattock, Coneygeer etc , Bishops Lydeard is the occupier of land above 50 Shillings /year in Polls & Electoral reg. -Ancestry
1836. A Francis Shattock, 26, was buried Bishops Lydeard - this their 1810 son
1841C. Francis Shattock, 63, shoemaker, is living Bishops Lydeard with his wife Mary 65, and 2 grandsons? . Living nearby is Samuel Shattock 39, blacksmith, with wife & children 2-11.
