1871, Jane Coxon married James Johnson Morpeth Dec 1871
1874. A George William Johnson was born Morpeth Mar 1874.
1876. A James Robert Johnson was born Morpeth Jun 1876. And on 11/6/1876 these 2 boys were baptised in Choppington to James & Jane Johnson .
Choppington just 2-3 k W of East Sleekburn, 2 k N of Bedlington
1880. Her husband, James Johnson, died, age 30, Morpeth Mar 1880. There was an outbreak/epidemic of Scarlatina near Bedlington in 1880. 2 other deaths in the sams quarter were those of George William Johnson aged 6 and James Robert Johnson aged 4. It would seem that Jane, then pregnant with future daughter Jane A Johnson, lost both her husband and her only 2 children to this outbreak within 3 months in 1880.
1880. Jane Ann Johnson born Morpeth Jun 1880 - within 3 months of those terrible deaths
1881C. Jane Johnson, 28, widow, b. Bedlington, living West Sleekburn Farm Cottages, Bedlington with a daughter, Jane A Johnson born 1880 Bedlington- this must be the Janet Brown who appears in 1901C!! Her father George Coxon, 51, widowed, is living very nearby with her
| Jane | Johnson | Head | Widow | Female | 28 | 1853 | General House Worker (Serv) | Bedlington, Northumberland, England | |
| Jane A | Johnson | Daughter | Single | Female | 1 | 1880 | - | Bedlington, Northumberland, England |
Judith West[ daughter of Gladys Malloy/Brown 1922] told me that Jane his wife had been a widow when she married and had two daughters by her first marriage - hence the appearance of Janet (b 1881) in the 1901 census. This might help in sorting out which Jane he married. Judith thought Janet and Emily were the daughters of the first marriage but Emily's dates don't fit - unless she was named after a step-sister who died - I haven't checked that. According to Aunty Gladys their youngest daughter Mary had long fair hair. Sorry don't have any knowledge of their deaths.-Anne . This info. backs my thoughts that she was Jane Johnson, & have now proved she is from the 1852 & 1862 birth dates of the 2 candidates - so do not need the 1882mc.
1882. Jane Johnson married George Brown Morpeth Mar 1882 -have proved I have the correct Jane here - see end of George Brown page . No certificate on Ancestry/FMP/FS
1882 .William Brown, born 22/11/1882, Red Row, to George & Jane .

Jane Ann Johnson born Morpeth Jun 1880 - she might be a visitor, 11, b.Bedlington. with an Arthur Clark, marrine engineer, & wife Anne, 28, b. Bedlington, in All Saints, Newcastle in 1891C. This Anne could possibly have been born a Coxon or a Johnson
1901C. George Brown, 44, coal hewer,b. Hartley, is living Telephone Row, Bedlington with his wife, Jane, & 6 children
| George | Brown | Head | Married | Male | 44 | 1857 | Coal Hewer | Hartley, Northumberland, England | |
| Jane | Brown | Wife | Married | Female | 48 | 1853 | - | East Sleekburn, Northumberland, England | |

Where has Janet Brown 1881 appeared from?? - likely the Jane A Johnson in the 1881C, also born East Sleekburn. Although also a Jane Brown born Morpeth Jun 1881 , missing from the 1891C and maybe not connected with George & Jane, who only married Mar 1882
1911C. George Brown, 54, coal miner hewer, b. Hartley, is living in 4 rooms at 4 Telephone Row, Bedlington with his wife, Jane, & 4 children. Married 30 years, 6 children, 1 dead - this agrees with Mar 1882 marriage

Dead by 1939 Register , as is his wife. George Brown could die Morpeth Mar 1921, stated age 66- this easily the nearest match
Jane Brown could die Morpeth , aged 63 Jun 1916 or aged 67, Mar 1920 . Need a Family Bible!! . Does Linda know? Parish Burial records in Northumberland Archives, Easington, might resolve this matter
