Michael Maher, 46, died in 1893 (informant Catherine Delandre/Grant ), & was buried in Dunhill (maybe against his wife's wishes?- FMP article ) : all the Delandre family attended the funeral: a row broke out on the journey back to Waterford between John Delandre and a nephew, Joseph, of Michael Maher : this came up in court . All the Delandres, including Catherine & Mary, were accused of being drunk- but this not proved and Joseph was fined £1- FMP Newspapers

Margaret Maher , almost certainly died in 1930 - address Shortcourse, age given 76 being some 9 years out, but certainly no other deaths 1911-1940s are hers!

Betty thinks Catty only came home- from London - to marry John/Jack

1921-1924. The family moved from Mount Sion Avenue to Shortcourse, where Catty was running this grocery shop- this likely early 1924 after the December 1923 death of her unmarried sister. Mary Delandre .

"John P's wife Catherine ran the shop in Shortcourse and the family lived there at that time. John P was a tailor until he retired in late 60s, following a stroke. After his wife died, he sold the shop (the story goes: to clear debts after his wife allowed too much "credit")". But the 'original' owner, Maggie Maher, did not die until 1930 .So, MAYBE, the sale followed her death on 26/1/1930, following 3 months of gangrene.
1928. Catherine Fitzgerald, 43, of 10 ShortCourse, wife of tailor, Jn Fitzgerald, died on 15/6/1928 in the Co.& City Infirmary, of Bronchial pneumonia following an Abortion , 1 and 1/2 months : this, abortion, the medical term then in use for a miscarriage! . So, had she had pneumonia for 1 and 1/2 months, or does this refer to the timeof the abortion - surely unlikely? Rather think the former

Kitty's story
“Kitty’s story” is not a brief one and may be a bit fanciful too. She never married although she had several serious suitors until she was in her 40s. She dedicated her life to the welfare of her father following Catty's death; supposedly, this held her back from the altar. The 'story' is that Catty was lifting a large pot of boiling water off the range, when the 4 or 5-year-old ( actually 7) Kitty, playfully swung out of her long skirts, causing her “heavily pregnant” mother to lose her balance and fall over. She’s said to have been confined to bed for the remainder of her confinement and later died giving birth. Mother and baby were said (by K) to have been buried in the same coffin. So, all of her life (died at 81) the little girl felt responsible for her mother’s death and, in consequence, devoted herself to her father. Nice story but the recorded circumstances of Catty’s death do not lend much support to the complete veracity of Kitty’s story because: i) she died in hospital, ii) she had a miscarriage, not a still-birth, iii) she would not go to hospital to have the baby at full term, iv) cause of death was pneumonia associated with the miscarriage, presumably at least some days later, by which time the baby/foetus would have been buried. Whatever the whole truth, Kitty really believed her own story – she could certainly have married but chose not to.
Chris' view is that she likely did cause her mother to trip: but whether that caused her miscarriage and ensuing death is another matter!
Catty left 4 children, aged 3-11.
It is thought she was buried in Dunhill, where her parents were buried
1976. Her widower, John Fitzgerald, almost 87?, died June - likely still living in St Alphonsus Road. He is buried in the Ballybricken Churchyard cemetery.
