1928. Richard Orton died. Annie continued living in Barking with daughter Lily.
1939 Register Annie Orton, born 3/11/1863, was living 138 Glenny Road, Barking, Essex. There was also a Lily V Barker, born 15/9/1900, bar waitress , living with her: she would be her 1900 daughter, Lily V Orton, with her second husband, Richard Orton.
1940 Annie Orton died 13/2/1940 at 138 Glenny Road, Barking, Essex. Cause of death: cerebral haemorrhage. It is thought she fell off a chair whilst adjusting blackout curtains and never recovered. She is buried in plot M N69, an unmarked grave, in Ribble Road Cemetery Barking, an unmarked grave
