A week in France 2017
We had seven nights away during our annual pilgrimage to visit Gaynor & Vic, leaving Moraira on July 18.

We stayed the first night at Iriarte-Jauregia in Bidegoian.Pleasant hotel except for the receptionist!!, but had a pleasant chat with the owner next morning. Good tapas and wine in the lounge after a violent tormenta |

Next morning we explored nearby Tolosa, with its old centre and beautiful river |

Then 3 nights at the luxurious Chateau Lamothe, a supposed hunting lodge of Edward, the Black Prince, nowadays run by Carla, with daughter Nicola's help. Boyzz were in heaven! |

The moat surrounded chateau had been well restored inside, and we had an impressive bathroom |

One day we drove to the Sauternes region, sampling wines at Chateau Guiraud, an eco-friendy vineyard. We bought some of their wine |

Lunched at the simple but very friendly Chateau Trillon: delicious mussels, dubious veal cheeks, a good pudd. & a glass of Rayne Vigneau. Then explored the village of Sauternes. Enjoyed 'tapas' for supper on the terrace of Lamothe! |

The following day we visited the very well kept Chateau Reignac with a fantastic tasting tower |

Then enjoyed a picnic overlooking the vineyards around St. Emilion. Drove to Chateau Pressac for a tour, but unimpressed with the guide, so left |

Boyzz were delighted to try out Vic's lamborghini- Vic seemed to enjoy it too. Gaynor laid on plenty of special Fizz & we enjpyed a walk at the Regional Park |

| lot of noise for most of the night. But we enjoyed exploring the town, had a complimentary drink & tapa in the hotel cellars, watched the impressive clock striking 8, failed to find a convivial restaurant so bought a good wine and drank it in the delightful, but unlit, hotel lounge. | |||||
