a photo of James Fearnley (grandfather of Fearnley Sander) information about the photo  written on the back of it (Fearnley Sander´s and my grandmother´s handwriting) and an unidentified lady in a gig. I don´t know who she is! Could it be Eliza Fearnley, Fearnley Sanders mother? Perhaps Michael can identify her, I´d love to know!-Suz.

Where is the evidence for this Michael? "whose nursery land was sold to accommodate London’s expansion, and turned him into a landed proprietor".

1875. His wife, Mary Susanna Fearnley,65, dies Lewisham Jun 1875. No probate

1875. Likely moves from Lewisham to Welling - some ~12 k between the two

1881C. James Fearnley, is living Belle Grove, Bexley, Dartford, Kent ( does say Welling on the top of the census return!) . Both his name and that of 2 of his Sander grandchildren incorrectly written in the original!! 3 of the places of birth wrong too! This took some finding!

He also speaks of visits to cousins in St Mary Cray: this would be this family: at Grassmeade, St Mary Cray . James S Fearnley a brother of Conrad's mother, Eliza Fearnley 1841
